If those New York publishers need an example, how about Ngaio Marsh? Several of her quite successful mystery novels were set in New Zealand, and I assume I wasn't the only American to read them.

I think those New York publishers need to take their collective heads out of their collective asses and take a look around. People want stories about exotic locals and characters. A book about the alternative history and culture of New Zealand has got that in spades! And it's not like New Zealand is a country no one's ever heard of! At the very least, anybody who's ever seen a little series of films called Lord of the Rings ought to know it was shot in New Zealand.

I've been to New Zealand. I had only a week to spend there, and it wasn't enough. I'm glad I can get a little taste of it again through Weather Child. Thank you for podcasting this book.
